Our Director of Religious Education, Sr. Philomena Fleck, will be retiring after over 27 years of loving service to our parish family. We will have a special Mass in celebration of Sr. Philomena here at St. Joseph’s on Saturday, June 6 at 11:00 A.M., followed by a reception in the hall.
We’ll never forget you, Sr. Philomena!
Our monthly Sunday Social is a very popular and very important of our parish life here at St. Joseph’s. It is in the church hall after each of the Masses that first Sunday of the month, and it’s a great opportunity to get to know your fellow parishioners better , while enjoying some delicious food.
There is also an area in the hall with toys and games where the children can play while you enjoy your food. Any help you can offer by bringing a homemade dessert or by cleaning up at the end of the gathering would be greatly appreciated. The next Sunday Social will be on June 7. And please bring along your family and friends!
On the first Sunday of every month, the 9:30 Mass is a Children’s Mass, which involves the whole family and helps us all, and in a special way the children, to experience the liturgy in a more enjoyable and engaging way.
The next Children’s Mass will be on June 7. Please join us for this experience of liturgy for all ages and please invite the people you know and love to celebrate the Eucharist with us.
We are excited to introduce the Mother’s Chapel Ministry, a new parish ministry designed to support families with young children at Mass.
The Mother’s Chapel Ministry supports our youngest parishioners and their families by providing a peaceful, welcoming environment where children can begin to encounter Jesus during the Mass. This ministry plays an important role in helping families pray together while modeling reverence for the liturgy—both within the Mother’s Chapel and in the pews.
Family Orientation Invitation
All families with young children are warmly invited to a Mother’s Chapel Ministry Orientation on Sunday, June 7, immediately following the 9:30 Mass, in the Mother’s Chapel.
At the orientation, families will:
Learn about the purpose of the Mother’s Chapel and Mass Bags
See and explore the materials available for children
Receive simple guidance on how to use the materials during Mass
Ask questions and meet members of the ministry
This year is the 800th anniversary of the passing of St. Francis of Assisi and we want to take this opportunity to help our parishioners to learn about this great and holy man.
Part of our celebration of him will be a series of four gatherings called "Coffee with St. Francis." For the four Wednesdays in June (June 3, 10. 17 and 24), we will gather in the church hall at 9:45 A.M. (right after the 9:00 Mass) to learn a little bit about St. Francis and have a conversation about how he can help us live our lives of faith more authentically today. We will have coffee and tea and some breakfast foods available for us to share as well.
Please join us and bring a friend!
Teens of our parish, rising 7th grade and through high school, along with their parents, are invited to a Game Night on Friday, June 12 from 7:00 to 9:00 in the parish hall. Bring a board game and a snack to share.
For more information, please contact Tom Brinkmann at: "[email protected]
On Saturday, June 13, St. Joseph’s will once again offer an opportunity to put our faith into action and reflect on what it means to serve our brothers and sisters in Christ.
We will go to four sites, and at each one we will do some good for our brothers and sisters who we may never meet. And also for animals, who of course are also God’s beloved creatures!
These sites are:
New Paltz Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing- We will visit with the residents there and bring some joy and some much-needed companionship to them.
New Paltz Rural Cemetery- We will clean up the graves in the cemetery, including those of veterans who are buried there.
Ulster Habitat ReStore in Kingston- This is a store that sells donated furniture and home improvement materials, with all the proceeds going toward the work of Habitat for Humanity. We will help sort out and make ready the items they are selling.
Catskill Animal Sanctuary in Saugerties- We will do all kinds of tasks, including cleaning stalls, mucking barns and fields, and helping paint fences. And it includes time with the animals!
Registration forms are on the tables in the church and at the parish office, and please let us know if you will be attending by end of day on Monday, June 8.
All men of the parish are invited to join us on Saturday, June 13 for the next meeting of our Men’s Group. This is a group of brothers who meet once a month to learn from one another how their faith can enrich every part of their lives. It’s a great group of guys and we always have an interesting and inspiring conversation.
We will gather in the parish center at 7:30 A.M.- yes, that’s right! We chose that time so that you would have the rest of the day to do what you need to do. Please join us and bring a friend- there’s no commitment made by attending, but we do hope you will be part of this community of faith.
Come and spend some time with other men of faith.
All the members of the parish are invited to a morning of prayer using the Lectio Divina style of praying with the Scripture.
The Scriptures are the Word of God and God speaks to us personally through the Scriptures. The Lectio Divina style of prayer is reading a Scripture passage several times with pauses after each reading for personal reflection. There will also the opportunity to share our reflections.
Join us on Monday, June 15 at 9:45 A.M. (after the 9:00 A.M. Mass) in the conference room in the parish center for this inspiring opportunity to listen to God and grow closer to Him. For more information, please contact Sister Elizabeth Anne at [email protected] All are welcome to join us!
One of our fellow parishioners, Gina Tufano, is offering a bereavement group here at St. Joseph's. This group, called "Living with Loss", is offered once a month and the next gathering will be on Monday, June 15 at 7:00 P.M. in the parish center.
This is a message from Gina about what this group can offer:
Grief is the last act of love we can give. Learning to live with loss is not about leaving loved ones behind, but carrying them with us in a new way. It is honoring the scars while finding the courage to live a full life again. “Moving on” is a myth, but “moving forward” is essential. By honoring the loss, we create space for growth, allowing ourselves to integrate the past into a new reality that sustains ties to what we lost while enabling a purposeful future. Come join us so you can “move forward” in Christ’s light.
Any questions, contact Gina Tufano @[email protected]

We have seen a good increase in the number of young people who are coming to St. Joseph’s, and we rejoice in that! We will have a listening session on Thursday, June 18 at 7:00 P.M. in our church hall to hear from our young people what they are experiencing in their lives of faith; what their joys and hopes and struggles and frustrations are with the Church (both local and universal); what they are looking for. Our hope is that by hearing from our young people what they are experiencing and feeling, we can better serve them and better integrate them into our parish family.
And we’re not going to define what age a young person is! If you feel you are part of that demographic that we are referring to, we truly hope you are able to attend and join the conversation at this meeting. We need to hear your thoughts and your experience to help us to continue to be the exceptional parish that we are, and which we want more people to be able to participate in.
Please contact Fr. Salvatore if you have any questions. He can be reached at [email protected] or at 845-255-5635, ext. 114.
We will have a Bingo Night on Friday evening June 19 at 6:00 P.M. in our church hall. Doors open at 5:30 P.M. and we will have food for sale- hot dogs, chili dogs, chicken fingers, and more!
Come and join us- you will have a good time for sure, and you may just win some money as well! All are welcome.
We need some volunteers to help with this event, so if you would like to help, please let Fr. Salvatore know at: [email protected]
